Bacon Family 'Charity Survivor' 2014

We're starting a new tradition in the Bacon family this Christmas: Charity Survivor! Every family member gets a chance to have $5,000.00 go to the charity of their choice - but there will only be one winner - so read the rules below and do your best to keep your charity from getting "voted off the island!"

Rules of the game:

1. Pick a charitable organization you would like to support.

2. Research the charitable organization:

  • Do online research (like checking their rating at: www.charitynavigator.org and their website)
  • Visit the organization
  • Know and understand thinks like: What programs they have? What do they spend their money/donations on? Do the organizations values fit with your values? Why or why no?

3. Develop a short (less than 2 minute) presentation on the charity you chose that will convince other family members why they should vote for your charity to win!

Voting process: Round One:

1. Each family member presents their charity and why it should win the prize money.

2. Every family member votes for one charity - without voting for their own.

3. The charity with the lowest number of votes gets "kicked off the island" (all charities that get no votes are eliminated).

Round Two:

1. Every family member votes for one charity - without voting for their own.

2. The charity with the lowest number of votes gets "kicked off the island" (all charities that get no votes are eliminated).

Round three:

1. Every family member votes for one charity - this time you CAN vote for your own.

2. The charity with the lowest number of votes gets "kicked off the island" (all charities that get no votes are eliminated).

Keep going through further rounds until you get down to just one winner - and the prize money will be given to that charity!

Timeline:

Thanksgiving - Rules of the game distributed to each family member

Late Nov./Early Dec. - pick your charity, research it, and create your presentation

Christmas - Let the games begin! Present your charity and go through the voting rounds to get down to one charity that will win it all!

May the best charity win!
